Finally the sun shone! Rhiannon wanted a beach day but everywhere was crammed after the rainy spell. So we packed up and walked along the South West Coast Path towards Brixham. We didn't have to go far before we sumbled upon Elberry Cove. It is not a sandy beach but in one corner there was enough sand to do a small castle empire. Plenty of other interests though as Rhiannon and Toby went Rock Pooling and found a seal taking in the view.
I took a seat by the ruin in the corner and spent the day in the shade knitting merrily with the sound of children playing and the sea lapping at the pebbles. A very pleasant day!
Next up was a long bike ride from Exter to Dawlish to see the famous Black Swans. Bike path 95% of the way, but awful pedestrian rail crossing got me covered in oil. I was wearing white shorts so least said the better.
Finished up the holiday with a visit to Dartmoor Wildlife Park/Zoo. Clearly a work in progress by the owner and a lack of staff was noticeable. However a very interesting visit and the emphaisis appears to be on conservation. Not for those wanting a cute and fluffy experience but I'd like to go back in 5 years and see what else he's done.
